Mike Huckabee serves as the United States Ambassador to Israel. He was nominated by President Donald Trump in November 2024 and confirmed by the US Senate in 2025.

Huckabee was elected Lieutenant Governor of Arkansas in 1993 and became Governor of Arkansas in July 1996 following the resignation of his predecessor. He served as governor until 2007, making him one of the longest-serving governors in the state’s history. He sought the Republican presidential nomination in 2008 and again in 2016.

In addition to his political career, Huckabee has had a long career in broadcasting. He hosted The Huckabee Report, a nationally syndicated radio programme, as well as the number-one-rated weekend programme Huckabee on Fox News Channel for six and a half years. In 2017, he launched a new version of Huckabee on TBN, which he hosted until his nomination as US Ambassador to Israel.

Huckabee graduated magna cum laude from Ouachita Baptist University in 1976, completing his four-year bachelor’s degree in two and a half years. He subsequently attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary before entering full-time Christian ministry. He served as a pastor for a number of years and as President of the Arkansas Baptist State Convention from 1989 to 1991.

A longtime supporter of Israel, Huckabee has visited the country numerous times over several decades and has been an outspoken advocate for strong US-Israel relations. He assumed his post as US Ambassador to Israel in 2025.
