Or Lamishpachot
(Light for the families)
Lt. Col. (Res.) Irit Oren Gunders established the Or Lamishpachot (Light for Families) organization in 2018, with the mission of providing vital support to parents and siblings who have lost loved ones in defense of the State of Israel. The organization’s guiding principle is captured in its motto: "Choosing Life".
Over the past year, Or Lamishpachot grew to include families affected by the War of Iron Swords, and today, it serves approximately 12,500 bereaved parents and siblings. In recognition of her dedication, Irit Oren was recently awarded the Zussman Joint Prize for her outstanding work in helping bereaved families rebuild their lives after loss.
In 2017, Irit also initiated the creation of the Or Lamishpachot choir. This choir is composed entirely of bereaved parents and siblings, including those who lost their loved ones during the War of Iron Swords. The choir is led by renowned musical director Kobi Oshrat, who continues to provide professional mentorship and guidance.
